Restore Balance and Wellness with Mobile Lymphatic Drainage Massage Service on Maui

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD), originally developed in the 1930s by Dr. Emil Vodder, Ph.D., and his wife, Estrid Vodder, ND, began as a technique to relieve patients from the common cold. How amazing is that?! Yet, we often overlook this powerful method.

Over the years, MLD has evolved to become more accessible, with certified Massage Therapists now trained in the technique. Historically, the Vodder Technique certification was reserved exclusively for nurses and physical therapists. Today, however, many massage therapy schools offer specialized MLD training for licensed massage therapists, making this brilliant manual therapy available to the general public so more people may experience its benefits. I’m excited to share that I became MLD certified in 2023 and am now offering this restorative modality to both Maui residents and visitors alike.

If you are traveling to Maui for a wellness vacation then I strongly encourage you to contact me and we can set up a package of Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage sessions for you.

Travel to Maui often involves long flights, which can lead to edema and a feeling of heaviness in the body. MLD is an excellent remedy to restore balance. Although sometimes referred to as “Lymphatic Drainage Massage,” MLD isn’t a traditional massage but rather a gentle technique using light, focused skin-to-skin contact. This method encourages the flow of lymph through the body, supporting a natural detoxification process.

The lymphatic system is a crucial part of the body's waste management system, helping eliminate toxins through sweat or urinary excretion.

I can offer you other forms of lymphatic drainage as well depending on your situation and reason for receiving MLD. I can offer you a session incorporating Gua Sha tools, massage cups, my hands or a combo. If you are experiencing swelling in your limbs from a long flight or are recovering from surgery such as liposuction, then lymphatic drainage massage may be a great option for you. If you are post-surgery or under a doctor’s care make sure to get clearance from them first before booking a session with me.

It is important to remember, the key to reducing swelling is consistency over a sustained period of time as opposed to a one-session quick fix.

What is Lymphatic Gua Sha?

Gua Sha is a 2,000-year-old traditional Chinese method of promoting qi and blood circulation. It can be applied vigorously to break up muscle adhesions or very, very lightly as in the case of lymphatic drainage. I use the light version only so don’t be alarmed if you go reading on the internet and find some pretty intense photos showing the results of Gua Sha, that is not my goal. Gua Sha also removes toxic heat, blood, and lymph from the body–the type of toxins that build up over time and make us ill, or so it is believed.

Have a look at some Gua Sha tools in the photos. Give me a call today to book a session or ask any questions you may have.
